Meet Myisha

Myisha J. Blackman is a nationally certified ASL/English interpreter, writer, and creator of Hooked on Recovery®, a platform devoted to the transcendent possibilities of personal development and inner work.

Her use of recovery reaches beyond its common association with addiction. She draws from its broader meanings: healing after injury and laying claim to what belongs to you. Through that lens, recovery becomes the ongoing work of tending to what needs healing while claiming more fully what God, our foreparents, and our United States inheritance have made possible.

A third-generation Angeleno, Myisha brings more than two decades of professional interpreting experience to her work. Her years moving between communities, institutions, conversations, and ways of seeing have sharpened her interest in how people understand themselves and what becomes possible when previously unexplored areas receive attention.

Her Christian faith is central to that exploration. After completing Recovery Ministry training at Fuller Theological Seminary, she continued studying personal development alongside Scripture, history, family formation, and the experiences of USA DOEWA—Descendants of Enslaved West Africans in the United States.

That work now includes books, journals, courses, essays, and conversations designed for people who are ready to engage inner work more fully—or who have already done substantial work and suspect there may still be something they have yet to examine.

And yes, the woman on the homepage who can move from the Hasmoneans to smoked salmon pappardelle in one conversation is very much the same woman.

Your recovery adventure awaits! Explore Myisha’s books, journals, courses, and other offerings to begin—or continue—your own journey of healing and claiming your inheritance.
